Student Age:
Children, Teens + Adults are welcome. We suggest 7yo up to adults, however the essential criteria is that the student is able to focus during class and eager to learn.
About the Classes:
Class size is kept small so that we can provide lots of 1:1 teaching opportunity to each student at every session.
BEGINNERS
Suitable for complete beginners to those with fundamental knowledge of play. You will learn the rules, basic tactics and strategies. Take home worksheets will be given on select weeks.
INTERMEDIATE - ADVANCED
Suitable for players with a good foundation of the rules of play, experience with tactics and strategies. In these sessions we will cover openings, progress through the weeks to middlegames and endgames. Each lesson will build on content learned from the last, when put together aims to provide a good base for improving the students' play overall. Take home worksheets will be given on select weeks.
Book week-to-week or by Term?
We understand scheduling activities can be difficult, so we offer the option to attend individual classes. While our sessions are independent enough for individual attendance, students will gain the most by attending a full term block, you see, our classes will be kept small so that each session can be tailored to the attending students and we will build on the students' progress week to week.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
JACOB GIBSON | Chess Specialist | Ranked 40th in WA
A qualified competitive chess teacher, Jacob has been playing competitive over-the-board chess for the past 8 years. He has a classical rating of 1964 which ranks him as 40th in the state currently.
Jacob is experienced with teaching complete beginners through to preparing students to attend interschool competitions.
Jacob is patient and encouraging to his students.
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Please note that once booked, tickets are non-rufundable. You may however transfer your ticket to another paticiapant. Should a workshop be cancelled due to Covid restrictions your workshop will be rescheduled or you will be given a 12 month credit to rebook when we reopen.
When arriving, attending and leaving the workshop, it is your responisibility to follow all safety precautions.
