About these classes:

  • We'll guide you through crocheting your own garment or bag. Choose from a range of pattern options, or before the day, share with us the pattern you have in mind so that we can review the suitability of the pattern for your skill level. You decide on your own colour combination or go with a single colour.

Optional:

  • Attend as many lessons as you need to complete your items, or if you'd like further learning.

  • It's up to you how much homework (amount of crocheting you do between classes) you complete before attending your next class.

  • It is possible for students to complete a garment with two lessons when they complete the in-between class homework to progress their pieces. But you are welcome to stagger your progress over 3 or more lessons (we understand you may be busy during the week and hey, this is supposed to be relaxing), as long as you are enjoying the process and your crochet journey, that's the important thing!

Skill requirement:

You must already be comfortable with these basic stitches - chain, single crochet, double crochet. If you are new to crochet, please attend our Beginners Crocheting Workshop first.

Teacher:

Your main teacher will be Dan. Additional teachers may be in the session to assist, based on group size. You'll receive plenty of 1:1 guidance.

Class location:

After booking, and before the class date, you'll receive an email to confirm the location, it will be either:

  • 294-296 Hay St, Subiaco (has stairs), or

  • 217 Hay St, Subiaco (wheelchair friendly, elevator).

  • Free street parking right outside this building on Sundays. We love this!!

Materials recommendations for garments:

  • The easiest is to purchase from our in-class range of yarns and hooks.

  • But if you wish to bring your own, choose:

    • Yarn
      - Worsted, 10ply or 12ply for quicker progress. 8ply is ok if you have patience and love the look of finer yarns.
      - Choose a yarn with a tighter weave, don't use one that is easy to split, unless you are an intermediate-advanced crocheter.

    • Hook - choose a size to suit your yarn.

Contact us with any questions. We'll check in with you following your booking and prior to class.

Provided in class:

  • Printed pattern for you to keep if you choose from our options of Beginner-friendly patterns.

  • Specialist teacher to guide you through the pattern, you'll learn how to read the pattern and how to form the required stitches. Plenty of 1:1 guidance to help you refine your skills.

  • Beautiful relaxing classroom environment.

  • Like-minded people to share the calm experience and joys in creating.

Age requirement:

Ideal for adults, suitable for 16yo and above.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER

CONNIE TRINH  |  STUDIO SUBI

The face behind Studio Subi, Connie is a lover and ambassador of all things handmade.

"Craft has always been my creative outlet, my happy moments, I could spend hours with, even preferred over sleep. I’ve always wished for a dedicated space where I could leave out all my supplies at the ready, but the spaces so far have been small and almost always needed to be packed away for practicality. Recently, an opportunity for space came up and I jumped for it!"

And so Studio Subi was born! A creative space for all to use and there’ll be workshops/classes by amazing creative teachers. Such as art, sewing, photography, jewellery, design, and more!

My favourite origami to create is the classic crane, I've easily made over 1000 several times over! I once made 200 for display in a gift shop window in Subiaco, the money raised was donated to Cancer Council of WA.
