ABOUT YOUR TEACHERS
CONNIE TRINH | STUDIO SUBI

The face behind Studio Subi, Connie is a lover and ambassador of all things handmade.
"Craft has always been my creative outlet, my happy moments, I could spend hours with, even preferred over sleep. I’ve always wished for a dedicated space where I could leave out all my supplies at the ready, but the spaces so far have been small and almost always needed to be packed away for practicality. Recently, an opportunity for space came up and I jumped for it!"
And so Studio Subi was born! A creative space for all to use and there’ll be workshops/classes by amazing creative teachers. Such as art, sewing, photography, jewellery, design, and more!

My favourite origami to create is the classic crane, I've made over 1000! Once I made 200 to raise money for Cancer Council of WA.
YUMI BARKER | THERAPEUTIC, MINDFULNESS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL ART INSTRUCTOR

Born and brought up in Tokyo, Japan, Yumi began work in the cosmetics industry as a professional makeup artist and visual transformation coach for models.

Finding love with a British/Australian, they wed and together had an adventurous 20 years, living across the world in 8 countries! No matter where she went, Yumi carried along her passion for the art and shared her skills through teaching. She taught both traditional and therapeutic Japanese and non-Japanese arts & crafts during this time.

Yumi and her husband returned to Perth 3 years ago. Yumi continued her arts teaching, and is currently conducting many lessons in Sumi-e (Japanese carbon-ink brush painting), Mandala dots meditation art, and Pastel Finger Paintings. We are excited to have Yumi at Studio Subi!
THEA MANDIN | STUDENT AND ORIGAMI ENTHUSIAST

Théa started folding origami last year for fun, and really enjoyed it. Shortly after, she began making more complex designs such as dragons and parrots.
As her interest grew, so did her collection of origami papers. She experimented with different sizes, colours, and textures. Her interest continues and Théa is self-learning through origami books and video tutorials.
"I am excited to have this opportunity to share my passion in origami." says Théa. We are excited to have Théa at Studio Subi too!
