Art Deciphered L1, starts 6 May
6 week course | 6.30pm-8pm | with Monia Allegre
WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
We are all capable of perception through our senses and also our general social and cultural knowledge. Everyone has the tools to read and feel the artworks. A little guidance in finding within us the simple path of interpreting an artwork is helpful and satisfying. Covered in this course: - Historical journey of visual art - Learn about key artworks that shook the audience when it was revealed - The power of contemporary visual art nowadays - Understanding of art trends - Be transported by the techniques that artists use to ‘manipulate’ the viewer - Visual tools (composition, media, colours, volumes, perspective or absence of perspective, new techniques, digital technologies and more) Monia is a visual artist, originally from France, where as a student, the Louvre was practically her second home. Today, Monia calls Perth home. Her artistic practice is sculpture, installation and mixed media. She has studied at Parsons School of Design in Paris and has done two internationally renowned artist residencies in The Netherlands (the Rijskakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten, and the Europees Keramiech Centrum in Den Bosch). Monia has exhibited at Sculptures By The Sea 2021 and has also been a lecturer at Fremantle Arts Centre. She has been a lecturer at UWA for three years, teaching ‘Integrated Design: The Making’ to 2nd year architecture & landscape architecture students.
